What are Epoxy Profile Rods?
Epoxy Profile Rods are round cross-section Rods made from electrical alkali-free fiberglass fabric impregnated with Epoxy and hot-pressed in baking and molding molds.
Epoxy Profile Rods can be divided into two categories:
1. Epoxy fiberglass rod, also known as pull rod, is generally used for lightning arrester or insulator mandrel.
2. Epoxy alkali-free cloth laminating rod, commonly known as cloth rod or laminating rod, is generally used as machining insulation. The mechanical performance of the transformer is better than that of the drawing rod.
Epoxy Profile Rods:
1. variety. Various resins, curing agents, and modifiers can be used in almost any application, ranging from very low viscosity to high melting point solids.
2. Easy to cure. With various curing agents, the epoxy system can be cured in the temperature range of 0-180 °C.
3. Strong adhesion. The presence of polar hydroxyl and ether bonds inherent in the epoxy chains makes them highly adhesive to a variety of substances. The low shrinkage and low internal stress of the cured epoxy also contribute to the increased adhesion.
4. Low contractility. The reaction of the epoxy with the curing agent used is carried out by a direct addition reaction or by the Ring-opening polymerization of the epoxy group in the resin molecule, without the release of water or other volatile by-products. They exhibit very low shrinkage (less than 2%) during curing compared to unsaturated polyester resins and Phenol formaldehyde resin.
5. Mechanical properties. The cured epoxy system has excellent mechanical properties.
