Classification of epoxy profile rods
Epoxy profile rods are rods with circular cross-sections made of electrical non-alkali glass fiber cloth dipped with epoxy resin and processed after baking and hot pressing in the molding mold. The glass cloth rod has high mechanical properties.
Epoxy profile rods can be classified into two types:
1. Epoxy glass fiber rod, also known as pull-out rod, is generally used for lightning arresters or insulator core rods.
2. Epoxy non-alkali cloth laminated rod, commonly known as cloth rod or laminated rod, is generally used as a machining insulator. In transformers and other products, the mechanical performance is better than the pull-out rod.
Application features of epoxy profile rods:
1. Various forms. Various resins, curing agents, and modifier systems can almost meet the requirements of various applications for forms, ranging from extremely low viscosity to high melting point solids.
2. Easy curing. With various curing agents, the epoxy resin system can be almost cured in the temperature range of 0 ~ 180 ℃.
3. Strong adhesion. The existence of polar hydroxyl groups and ether bonds in the molecular chain of epoxy resin makes it have high adhesion to various substances. The epoxy resin has low shrinkage and low internal stress during curing, which also helps to improve the adhesion strength.
4. Low contractility. The reaction between the epoxy resin and the curing agent used is carried out by direct addition reaction or ring opening polymerization of the epoxy group in the resin molecule, and no water or other volatile by-products are released. Compared with unsaturated polyester resin and phenolic resin, they show very low shrinkage (less than 2%) during curing.
5. Mechanical properties. The cured epoxy resin system has excellent mechanical properties.
